This month, special guest host Bob Deeks joins us to talk about microphones and their applications. Concepts will include: dynamic vs. condenser, polar patterns, roll-off filters, input levels, mono vs. stereo, mic selection and placement, close vs. ambient strategies, and more.
Bob Deeks has had many years of experience in the music industry as an audio engineer/producer, live and session guitarist, music editor, composer, and audio recording/production consultant. In the late 70s and early 80s, Bob worked at some of the most reputable studios in Toronto (Sounds Interchange, Nimbus 9, Soundstage, Phase One), and Ottawa (Marc Studios, Ambience Studios). Bob continues to work as an audio recording consultant, composer, engineer, and producer in his home studio, and has been a professor at Algonquin College in Ottawa, where he has developed, coordinated, and taught audio recording courses since 2003.
