This month, Club Cubase Montreal will present some unique VST instruments and discuss their integration into Cubase. Pianoteq is a virtual piano instrument from Modartt. Where many virtual piano instruments, including Steinberg's own Grand 3, achieve their realism and flexibility with expansive sample libraries that often take up several gigabytes, Pianoteq offers a different approach by using innovative physical modelling to capture the behaviour of a real instrument. A free trial is available at the Pianoteq website.
Additionally, we'll look at RealGuitar from MusicLab. The concept of RealGuitar may be familiar to users of Steinberg's Virtual Guitarist and Virtual Bassist instruments. RealGuitar (and its companion instruments RealStrat and RealLPC) offer some powerful tools so that composers can faithfully capture some of the notoriously-difficult-to-capture nuances that are essential to create an authentic-sounding guitar performance. How close do they come? Check out this video of Jeff "Keytar Jeff" Abbott putting RealGuitar through its paces.
Club Cubase is a user group for musicians, songrwriters, producers, engineers, and anybody interested in making music with their computer. Meetings may feature product demonstrations, draw prizes, guest speakers, and always feature a chance to exchange tips & tricks with your fellow Cubase users. Meetings are free and you do not need to be a registered Cubase owner to attend. Users of all experience levels are welcome.
